Care That Sees the Whole You
Hi, I’m Dr. Christopher Watkins, a licensed psychologist offering individual therapy and psychological testing for adults. My approach is warm, collaborative, and rooted in curiosity—about your story, your strengths, and what healing might look like for you.
I was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, where I learned early on what it means to be part of a community. That deep sense of connection and responsibility is what led me to pursue a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree and to dedicate my career to work that centers care, justice, and humanity.
I serve as a clinician, evaluator, instructor, researcher, and consultant—and in every role, I strive to consider the whole person. Your history, your culture, your identities, your context—they all matter.
As a Black psychologist who is also neurodivergent, I bring both lived experience and professional training to the work I do. I have a deep appreciation for how race, neurodivergence, gender, sexuality, class, and other identities intersect to shape how we move through the world—and how the world moves around us.
Whether I’m offering therapy or assessment, I aim to be a compassionate and affirming partner: someone who will join you in asking big questions about yourself, while also helping you develop a plan for real, sustainable growth.
Over the course of my career, I’ve worked in university counseling centers, community mental health centers, private practices, and hospitals. I’ve supported individuals across all developmental stages and across a wide range of experiences—from navigating everyday life transitions to processing complex trauma and its impact.
These experiences have taught me that healing looks different for everyone. There’s no single roadmap—but we’ll find the one that fits you.
If you’re looking for a therapist or evaluator who will see you in all your complexity—without judgment or assumptions—I’d be honored to work with you.
Let’s take the next step, together.
